happy birthday Jeff!

27...that's a lot of candles!

We had an awesome time celebrating Jeff's birthday this weekend. We started eating at Texas Roadhouse. Went and saw Karate Kid (really entertaining). Enjoyed the outdoors and got sun-burnt while working out and working in the yard. Did a Costco run and then had Jeff's family over for a delicious dinner that we enjoyed on the porch.
It was a successful birthday in my book.

We had a good DAM race!

On June 12 I ran my first half marathon in Rexburg, Idaho. The Teton Dam Marathon is a big deal back in our college town and we decided to make a trek back there to participate. Jeff did awesome in the 10K. 4th in his age division. He's so fast, especially considering he was still recovering from a painful pulled hamstring. I was so happy to finish and am now excited for my next race. Here I am coming into the finish!

The main motivation was being able to eat as much Craigo's pizza as I wanted after the race. Man that place has the best pizza ever.

Latest News

I got a job...thus the lack of posts.

I am the Special Events Coordinator at Your Community Connection of Ogden/Northern Utah. It's a non-profit organization that helps at-risk women and children. It's really exciting to be a part of it. I commute 40 minutes and am training for a half marathon and still trying to keep the house under control and thus I'm left with very little time for posting.

One day, this blog might be a tiny bit interesting again. Who knows.

General Conference and Easter weekend

Photobucket

This is me watching conference a year and a half ago. I will be doing this again, only this time with Jeff and not while sitting on my bed in a tiny apartment bedroom. What is General Conference you ask? Find out more here. It's a time where we gather as members of a church to listen to the leaders of our church.

This is my first year doing Easter dinner and I'm so excited. The menu is delicious, the table will be beautiful, and the treats are going to be amazing. *cross your fingers for me*

happy (early) Easter

my love language

Photobucket

is acts of service

Each night I make lunch for Jeff to take to work with him the next day. I think they're pretty awesome lunches. Sandwich, strawberries, carrots and ranch, goldfish, fruit snacks and a mid-morning muffin to snack on! Yummm. I like to think that Jeff's co-workers are jealous of his lunch and think that Jeff must have an awesome wife. haha. Oh my mind.

Easter is one of my favorite holidays

because I get to eat these candies!
Good thing they're only seasonal or I'd have some serious muffin top.

On Saturday after a run to Costco (be still my heart, how I love thee Costco) we stopped at Macey's for some little items we needed and I threw this bag in the cart before we hit the cash register. When we were in the car I said to Jeff, "These are my favorite thing about Easter...besides Jesus being resurrected and everything." Sometimes I say the most ridiculous things.

cabin day trip

Photobucket

The Cabin at Bear Lake. Gorgeous. The destination for some food and fun on Sunday.

The night before I made enchiladas to bake once we got there. Recipe posted here.

On the way there we stopped and took in the view. Apparently this place looks like the Caribbean it's so blue come August. I told Jeff we should make a weekend trip here in the summer, although it just won't be like going to Lake Tahoe. Nothing compares.

Once we got to the cabin we played a little air hockey. I dominated when I played Jeff's little sister, but then when Jeff and I played he totally beat me. He's got mad skills. For some reason I kept my left hand up the entire time I played.

After dinner we played two rousing rounds of Apples to Apples. Jeff won, both times...go figure.

We watched tv while the dishes washed and Jeff got the urge to braid my hair. The end result...not something I'll be wearing out-and-about anytime soon.

It was a good day. Lots of driving. If you're wondering why I look so beat down on a Sunday afternoon (a day of rest) it's because the kids in nursery are little terrors. After two hours of pure torture I come home drenched in sweat, hop in the shower to get the nasty off me, have a good cry and don't want to do anything for the rest of the day. Pretty sure I'm already ready for a new calling.
